Where your story matters

We all struggle with many things in our lives, be that various trauma, from major or minor incidents, along with equality issues, organisational issues, bereavement, self harm, family issues, depression, anxiety, post traumatic stress disorder(PTSD), personality disorders, and many other issues. No matter how low or out of control these issues make us feel, with the right support and relationship the positive personal growth within us all will fight through.

What I am is good enough if I would only be it openly.

What I am is good enough if I would only be it openly.

Carl Rogers, considered by many as the father of modern counselling, called this positive personal growth our ‘actualising tendency’. He believed, supported by research, that this positive growth is in all living organisms and we will always strive to grow the best we can in any given circumstance, like a plant towards the light. Together we can create a relationship to improve those positive growing conditions.

What you can expect from me is that I will listen to your story in a non-judgemental way, so that we can build a therapeutic relationship together where you can feel safe, supported and able to explore the thoughts you want to share, and work towards you becoming your best self.

It is important that you feel comfortable with any counsellor you work with and that the relationship feels right. Therefore I would encourage you to ask me any questions you wish and, if you do not feel that we are the right match, to continue looking until you do feel right, without feeling any obligation to me or any other counsellor, because the success of counselling has been shown by much research to be helpful to many people if that relationship is the right one.
