Where your story matters
'The curious paradox is that when I accept myself just as I am, then I can change.'
Carl R Rogers
We all struggle with many things in our lives, be that various trauma, from major or minor incidents, along with equality issues, organisational issues, bereavement, self harm, family issues, depression, anxiety, post traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), personality disorders, and many other issues. No matter how low or out of control these issues make us feel, with the right support and therapeutic relationship the positive personal growth within us all will fight through.
Carl Rogers, considered by many as the father of modern counselling, called this positive personal growth our ‘actualising tendency’. He believed, supported by research, that this positive growth is in all living organisms and we will always strive to grow the best we can in any given circumstance, like a plant towards the light. Together we can create a relationship to improve those positive growing conditions.
